The Stingray class is the middle class of children here at Little Trotters with students ranging in age from 2 ½ through 3½ years old. Being in the Stingray class is a big step for our little ones. They begin developing their independence while having fun, playing with their friends, and participating in a wide variety of activities.
Children in the Stingray class are greeted with many opportunities to test out their new found skills and independence. Before long, they are putting away their lunch kits and water cups, tidying their toys, and assisting the teachers with projects! They love the sense of accomplishment they feel each time they are able to tackle a new skill or job with ease.
Following the Cayman Islands Early Years Curriculum Framework, we foster a love of learning through the use of free play, gardening, baking, yoga, water play, arts and crafts, movement and sensory activities, and large group circle times. Your child will also help take care of our farm yard animals.
Each fortnight, the children explore a new theme during our circle time. Some examples of themes your child will explore include Colours, Shapes, The Cayman Islands, and The Lifecycle of a Butterfly. They will learn about these topics through the use of songs, finger plays, arts & crafts, hands on activities, projects, and mini lessons.
The children are greeted at the beginning of each new theme with a selection of books, toys, and activities that are related to the topic that is being explored. There is always a sense of excitement as children begin to discover the new subject they will be learning about!
