9:25 am – 9:50 am: Circle time
This is a teacher led group lesson, a time of more direct teaching on the particular theme of choice. Be it life cycles, dinosaurs or the work of a great artist; a vast range of topics are covered throughout the year. The teacher will use a variety of teaching mediums for effectiveness; group discussions, storytelling, songs, interactive activities and drama.

9:50 am- 10:05 am: Morning Snack Time
Snack consists of mixed fruit salad and baked goods (often homemade).

Digging, climbing, bike riding, sand play and endless opportunities for social interaction.

10:10 am – 11:10 am: Literacy Time
During this outdoor play time, small groups of children are brought inside to participate in 20 minute Jolly Phonics literacy lessons. In short, a story, song, action and worksheet relating to each letter of the alphabet are introduced. These sessions are fun, effective and thoroughly enjoyed by the children.

11:20 am – 12:00 pm: Hand Washing & Lunch Time

12:00 pm – 1:30 pm: Sleep Time/Quiet Time
Those children who no longer need a sleep during the day head out into the garden with their friends.

1:30 pm – 1:55 pm:
The children come in from the garden, wash their hands and settle down for a short period of mindfulness. We listen to music, look at books or just take a moment to reflect.

2:00 pm – 3:00 pm: Free Play
The children are brought back into the main class for free play with the theme related activities/materials from the shelves. The children that have slept begin to awaken and are invited to join their friends as they are ready.

2:15 pm – 2:50 pm: Jolly Phonics
The class is divided onto two groups. One group at a time moves out onto the porch for a Jolly Phonics lesson. This is a teacher led group lesson introducing early literacy skills. Along with letter sounds and formation, we also look at rhyming, pencil grip and control, syllables, using our listening ears, and blending sounds with simple CVC words towards the end of the year.

3:00 pm – 3:30pm: Afternoon Circle Time
The children may revisit the morning circle time, focus on maths or play a game.

3:40 pm – 4:00 pm: Afternoon Snack Time

4:00 pm – 5:30 pm: Outdoor Play & Home Time
Time for one last play with friends before heading home.
