The Iguanas learned about Terry Fox who was a Cancer Awareness Advocate from Canada. At the age of 18 Terry was diagnosed with bone cancer and he had to have his right leg amputated. The doctors told him he should rest and take it easy. Instead, Terry made a goal to run across Canada despite the challenges he would face. Terry never was able to complete his dream. Sadly, he died at the age of 22. However, it was Terry’s courage and bravery that inspired people to donate over 4 million dollars.
The Iguanas watched a video of Terry running and felt the same sense of pride that he roused in other people. We will be using Terry’s story to help us inspire others as we also try and raise awareness about cancer this week.
